Bertie Göttgens from Cambridge University, a co-organizer of the Single Cell Biology Keystone meeting just held in Breckenridge, Colorado sat down with Nicole Rusk from Nature Methods to discuss trends in the field.  

He shares his views on what is holding the field back and why the current reward structure does not help. He commends young scientists who are not afraid to bridge the experimental/computational divide, and he has suggestions for authors, reviewers and authors of computational papers.
